ZeroAvia hydrogen work receives UK aerospace funding

Aviation decarbonisation is moving from concept studies to funded demonstrations.

WHEC 2022

ZeroAvia's hydrogen developments were set to benefit from record UK government funding for green aerospace, according to the conference news record. The funding was part of a wider effort to support low carbon aircraft technology and the supply chain around it.

Hydrogen aviation faces real constraints: storage weight, airport refuelling, certification and the cost of early aircraft. Public funding helps to carry demonstration projects through the stage where private capital is reluctant.

The item complemented the airlines story in the archive. Together they show the two ends of the same question: what airlines say they need, and what technology developers are trying to build.

This item is part of the 2022 conference news archive. It records a development reported in the conference news feed.
