At the conference
His invited talk addressed liquid hydrogen storage in microgravity. Cryogenic storage is central to space applications, where heat leak raises the pressure inside a dewar and can cause boil off. Without gravity, a vapour bubble may form, and its shape and position are not easy to predict.
The talk examined the fluid physics observed in a cryogenic dewar under microgravity and the mechanisms that influence the size and position of the vapour bubble. The aim was to quantify pressure and temperature changes and boil off, and to use that understanding in the design of storage vessels and transfer systems.
See the invited speakers page for the other invited talks. The topics page covers storage and cryogenic questions.
