Dr Stuart Hawksworth
Dr Stuart Hawksworth leads the Centre for Energy at the Health and Safety Executive in the United Kingdom and is President of the International Association for Hydrogen Safety. His work sits at the point where hydrogen technology meets regulation, risk assessment and public confidence.
His plenary addressed how hydrogen safety is managed across the energy system. It covered the role of the safety association, current projects and the way their results feed into regulations, codes and standards. It also looked at the technical challenges in transport, heat and power, and at the education and training needed as hydrogen use grows.

Hydrogen safety is not a narrow compliance topic. It shapes where technologies can be deployed, how they are insured and whether the public accepts them. A plenary on safety set that context for the technical sessions that followed.
