An alternative to hotels
Istanbul has a wide range of guest houses and small pensions, especially in Beyoglu, Sultanahmet and the streets around Taksim. They suit delegates who prefer a simpler room, a smaller building or a longer stay at a lower cost.
Guest houses vary more than hotels. A room may be excellent value or may lack the facilities a delegate needs for a working week. Check the room type, breakfast, cancellation terms and the exact address before booking.
What to check
- Distance to the Istanbul Congress Center and the nearest metro or bus stop.
- Whether the room has a desk, reliable internet and air conditioning.
- Breakfast and cancellation terms.
- Recent reviews and the host's contact details.
- Access at night and the route back from Taksim.
