The venue
The 23rd World Hydrogen Energy Conference was held at the Istanbul Congress Center, known as the ICC. The centre serves as a venue for international congresses and events, with technical infrastructure, meeting rooms and exhibition space. It covers 120,000 square metres across eight floors.
The ICC hosts congresses, conferences, symposia, corporate meetings, fairs, exhibitions and cultural events. For WHEC, that mix of scale and flexibility made it possible to keep the scientific sessions, posters and exhibition close together.
Where it sits in the city
The centre is in the Congress Valley area of Taksim and Nisantasi, a central district with cafes, restaurants, hotels and shopping nearby. The location puts delegates within walking distance of public transport and gives them easy access to the historic peninsula and the Bosphorus.
The ICC is about 40 kilometres from Istanbul Airport. Metro, bus, taxi and airport shuttle options connect the airport and the city centre.
